The authoritative American magazine Newsweek published its annual list of the world’s best hospitals, compiled by the International research company Statista Inc. The Israeli Medical Center ‘Sheba‘ (Ramat Gan) has entered the top ten for the fifth time. A total of 2,400 medical institutions from 330 countries were evaluated in the ranking. The purpose of the ranking is to provide the best comparison of the reputation and efficiency of hospitals in different countries.
The ranking is based on three sources of data:

Opinions of medical experts (doctors, hospital managers, healthcare workers).
Patient survey results.
Key medical performance indicators (KPIs) of hospitals.
The results of the study underwent additional verification: they were sent to an international network of medical journalists for reliability assessment. They were also approved by an international council of renowned medical experts.

This year, ‘Mayo Clinic’ in Rochester (USA) took first place. It is one of the world’s largest private medical and research centers. In second place is Cleveland Clinic from Cleveland, followed by Toronto General Hospital (Canada). Next are: The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore (USA) fourth; Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (USA) fifth; Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) sixth; Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset Stockholm (Sweden) seventh; P-HP – Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière (France) eighth; Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan (Israel) ninth; Universitätsspital Zürich (Switzerland) tenth.
The Israeli ‘Sheba’ center took the honorable ninth place and is recognized as a leader in medicine both in the Middle East and in the world. It was founded in 1948 as a military hospital created to treat Israeli soldiers during the War of Independence. Today, it is the country’s largest hospital, serving over a million patients annually. The complex includes 159 medical departments and clinics, 33 laboratories, and four specialized hospitals: emergency, rehabilitation, as well as women’s and children’s hospitals.
The hospital’s ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) Center for Digital Innovation has developed the artificial intelligence technology ‘Aidoc’, which is now used in more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide. ‘Aidoc’ effectively analyzes medical images, aiding in accurate diagnostics and monitoring of patient conditions. In particular, after the HAMAS attack on October 7, ‘Aidoc’ helped to provide rapid and timely diagnosis of the injured and affected who were admitted to the hospital.
